JEEP PROJECT COMPLETE !!!

Glenda and I had a rejoicing time on Saturday when she called to say that the JEEP is now paid ofr.  So thank you to those of you who gave and those of you who prayed.   Some exciting news is that Jean Pierre has been chose by the company he works at to go to Canada to work.  He will still be the sole provider for his family in Haiti.   Glenda and Dave are hopeful that they will be able to see Jean Pierre when he is in North America and that their paths will cross more often.  And, of course, if he arrives for a visit to New England, we will get a chance to show him this amazing radio ministry !  Praise be to God from whom all blessings flow.

Update - Can you Help ?

Glenda reports that $1400 remains to pay off the Jeep for Jean Pierre.   $100 was just received to pay shipping for the much needed food shipment.  Three large Rubbermaid totes are ready to go this week and now the money for shipping has been received, just in time !  Praise the Lord with us.  We will let you know how you can help with another Food Shipment.

Right now the need is urgent to raise the remaining $1400 for the jeep.  The man who owned the jeep and who is awaiting payments from Jean Pierre was finding it difficult to feed his family and was going to ask for the jeep back to sell outright rather than on payments so Jean Pierre was very concerned.  Glenda and David were able to wire the money that had come in recently to Jean Pierre who paid the payment to the jeep's  owner and then he had money for food for his family and Jean Pierre still has the Jeep to get to and from work and provide for his family.  JP's  mother and cousins have returned and so there are fourteen to feed at the moment and he is the sole "breadwinner".

Please pray for Jean Pierre and his family and please consider how the Lord may be using you to help meet this need.  If you would like to donate, again the information is a check to Glenda and/or David McChesney, sent to PO Box 681, North Berwick, ME  03906 and their phone number is 207-698-5987.

Previous posts give their whole story, so please take the time to consider and joyfully participate in prayer and giving as the Lord leads you.

Jeep Fund Increasing for Jean Pierre in Haiti

Since preparing the most recent post, $300 more has been received, making the total given $1800, which is just $200 short of being halfway to paying off the cost of the jeep for Jean Pierre in Haiti.  Thank you to those folks who are laying up treasures in heaven and who cheered the McChesney's on so they could wire that money to Jean Pierre, who in turn cheered the gentleman who is needing the money for the jeep.      With the elections brewing and riots on the horizon, families have been advised to put aside four days of food and water and to not venture outside until things calm down.  The food shipment has not arrived as yet and there is a need for more funds for shipping costs.  Please pray about what you can do and read the post of earlier today for more details.  Thank you so very much !

Remembering Haiti ~ Remembering One Another

January 12 was the anniversary of the Haiti earthquake. Now we are into the second year of devastation and human sorrow that continues. And yet – there are people making a difference in the beautiful people of Haiti, treasured by their Creator God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Enter Glenda and David McChesney from Berwick, Maine.

What can I say about this amazing couple… They would not want me to say anything! They would just want me to talk about Jean Pierre Garry, a 30-year-old young man from Haiti.

Jean Pierre at the entrance to the family's home and then the devastation of that entrance after the earthquake.

David and Glenda met Jean Pierre through a mutual missionary friend. The McChesney’s have traveled to minister the compassion of Christ in Haiti three times. They know Jean Pierre well and talk to him often by   phone. They spearhead a personal campaign to provide food to families in Haiti, right now specifically Jean Pierre and the sixteen other members of his family.

Right now - the urgent project at hand is that they are presently seeking to raise funds to finish the purchase of an Isuzu jeep-type vehicle that costs $4000 and of which they have already raised $1500 that has been applied to the purchase. In the mean time Jean Pierre is able to use the vehicle to drive the three hours one way to his job from home in Port Au Prince to Jacmel for an IT firm.

However, the payment of the balance is due much sooner than later and the offer to take   installment payments is quickly coming to a close. At this time, the McChesney’s have exhausted their resources and that of partnering churches but not God’s resources!

It is of great importance to keep Jean Pierre in an earning position to care for his family members. David and Glenda have recently raised funds to rebuild his family’s crushed and broken home after the earthquake. Jean Pierre’s dad used to be a tailor and now is disabled. His mom is caring for four of Jean Pierre’s cousins, as well as this own brothers and sisters, and Jean Pierre is the sole provider. He is a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ. His testimony is witnessed by David and Glenda and came at the recommendation of the mutual missionary friend.

Several church fellowships and friends in the McChesney’s community of influence have assisted and provided the necessary funds so far. For reference, interested donors may contact Pastor Roy Reynolds of South Berwick Free Baptist Church and administrator of Seacoast Christian School by calling Roy at the church at 207-384-2504.
David and Glenda McChesney can be reached at 207-698-5987.

Since starting their ministry to the people of Haiti the McChesney’s have helped a young doctor and helped put another young man through medical school in Haiti (not like the costs associated with medical school in the U.S. !!) and this young man is now a doctor with a wife and child. Glenda and David also ship hundreds of pounds of food to Haiti on a regular basis. Glenda purchases, sorts and packs while David works in Shop 56 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. She also collects, sorts and packs Christian literature that they deliver for distribution points in Pennsylvania and Virginia.

I would implore you to consider what part you and your fellowship of believers might do to help Jean Pierre and make a difference in one man’s life in Haiti. Remember this one young man is providing for sixteen other people – so only God knows what can be accomplished for the Kingdom of God in their lives.

You may contact Mr. and Mrs. David McChesney at 207-698-5987 for more information.

Catch the vision, and jump on board that Isuzu that leaves Port Au Prince each day,
returning home after six hours of commute to care for a seventeen people under one broken,
now repaired, roof.

Thank you for being obedient to whatever calling the Lord is placing on your heart, whether it is with this mission effort to Haiti or some other ministry of compassion or service to the Lord for His glory.
